Freestyle
I have to say that of the Winter Olympics, the sport that most impressed me was freestyle jumping. The height the athletes reach is equivalent to a 7-story building. One thing I found interesting is that the majority of its champions have all kinds of... bone fracture histories. Isn't that a sign that maybe they should jump... lower?!

Pompei in Chicago
In Chicago, the Field Museum has a small but "quality" show on Pompei. What I liked about the show is that photos of a house accompany artifacts and bodies escavated there. You can really feel life breathe back into the city. It is very strong. Many museums around the world display artifacts from lost cultures. With Pompei and Ercolano, the people lie there, cast in the last acts of their lives, men, women and childeren.

Priscilla and Fabricio
Last night, Paulo Portella's cousins came to visit. They are here on vacation.

I have to say that I feel honored by the fact that Chicago and not Miami was their first U.S. stop! Thank you Varig!

Of course (as it is our custom!) we had a lengthy and flavorful dinner, with lots of conversation! They were messengers of Paulo, who had sent little books for the kids! Thank you Paulo! "O tio do Brasil!" Before I took Priscilla and Fabricio back to the hotel, I drove them around to see some of the landmarks of Chicago, from the downtown buildings to the World Fair site.
