Cows Checking You Out
While we were staying in Barquisimeto with the kids and their grandparents, one day, we went to take the little ones to take horsebackriding lessons. Nearby, behind a fence, there was a group of cows sitting down. I got close to the fence.

I turned to say something to Daniela. When I turned back, all the cows had gotten on their feet and walked towards me. It was a surreal experience! I don't know if it was curiosity or what else, but I was caught off guard.

Wisconsin Drumlins
So, for years we go visit my cousin Luca in Wisconsin, and we basically would pick him up, take him to a local restaurant, take a walk and talk, catching up with family events.

The scene repeated itself the same for years, with precision.

Suddenly, about 5 years ago, I decided I wanted to take a detour and venture to Aztalan Park, a sign for which we had seen ever since we started this routine. It was a great revelation: Aztalan Park is one of only two surviving examples of Mississipian Culture's village dwellings (the other one being Cahokia, across the river from St. Louis: we saw that too).

Now, we go there too, every time we visit Luca. This summer, though, we took on another "adventure" (gee, it takes little for us to qualify in that category). Another sign we saw regularly was for a "Glacial Drumlin State Trail". What is a Drumlin? Is it a mythological creature? Why Glacial? Etc., etc... Well, as we rode our bycicles along the trail, we found a plaque that explained that "drumlins" (I now understood that they are shaped like African drums, and therefore called thus), are sediments of gravel left behind by the retiring glaciers on the Wisconsin countryside!

Rainy Day in Chicago
It was a stormy day in Chicago today. The humidity was unbearable, it hadn't rained for days, and finally... here it is!!! It came with a fury strong enough to break windows, eradicate trees...

Finally...
