Canto a tenores (3) [Chicago, May 2002]
The poems put to song in the tradition of Canto a tenores, talk about the relationship of human beings and their land, the world. As sos antigos, one of these songs inspired this watercolor.

Canto a tenores (2) [Chicago, May 2002]
This mixed media piece (watercolor and acrylic on paper) came out without any premeditation. I imagined that this could be the way a medioeval tenores, bare-chested, tending his "real" job in the field, looked.

Canto a tenores (1) [Chicago, May 2002]
This is one of a series of watercolors on Canto a tenores, a choral singing tradition that some say dates back to the Bronze Age (some statuettes showing three singers holding each other by the belt have been found, in much the same way contemporary tenores sing. This particular watercolor/acrylic piece is my attempt to represent an actual song, with the lead singer flowing at the top, while the tenores keep the beat (at the bottom).
